We will be going fishing at Voice of America Park in West Chester: Click here for a map Bring a fishing rod if you have one. We may have extras on hand for those who don't have one, please let either Karen or Bob know if you will need to borrow equipment. We do ask that each boy have a parent accompany them on this trip since we will be near the water. The boathouse (where you pay and buy bait, etc.) opens at 7:00am. Let's plan to meet at the boathouse at 9:00am. Feel free to come earlier/later if you prefer, but I'll be sure to be at the boathouse at 9:00am to meet folks so that we can discuss & complete Elective 19 as a group. We will complete Elective 19 and work toward the Conservation Award. Fishing for adults is $7.00 for the day. Youth 7-15 are $4.00, and youth under 7 are free. There is a limit of two poles per person, additional poles are allowed for a fee. The price of bait varies, but shouldn't be more than a few bucks. A permit is required to get into the park. The permit is $2.00 for the day, or $5.00 for an annual windshield sticker (good at all metroparks). Note that the $5.00 sticker includes three $1.00 off coupons, which can be applied to the fishing fees. Also, this same sticker is good at Timberhill Park, where we will be doing our May campout. I'm not sure if they'll be checking & enforcing parking passes at our campout, but if they do, you'd be covered. |
